BOWLING SIGNEES MAKE HISTORY

On Friday, January 13, 2012, at Victory University, several local student athletes will make history. For the first time in the history of Victory University and for collegiate athletics in Memphis, there will be a collegiate bowling team.  This marks the first time a four year accredited institution will offer scholarships for men’s and women’s bowling in Memphis. The team will begin its inaugural season this October under the leadership of Michael Catlin and his assistant coach Glenda Cleaves, who is a well-known and respected youth coach in the Memphis area.

Catlin, who has been the head coach at White Station High School for the past ten years says, “ This is an exciting time for all of us at Victory as we embark on encharted territory. It is exciting that bowlers, who once had no option here in town to continue their bowling careers, can now opt to stay home and have a chance to earn a scholarship to bowl”.

Congratulations to Dr. Greg Hollifield from the Victory University Department of Bible and Theology for his publication of  “Does God Want You to be Rich?  A Practical Theologian’s Response to the Gospel of Prosperity” in The Journal of Ministry and Theology (Fall 2011: Baptist Bible Seminary [Clarks Summit, PA]).
